Niall O'Siochain, one of our EI and PI trainers, never misses a chance to inform his colleagues and students about new literature of interest to bodymind integrators. That's why the Council has opened this page to anybody who wants to inform colleague or student about their latest flash on an article or a book. If possible write a short review about the book or article you like to recommend and send it to Dirk at the secretariat: icpit@posturalintegration.info.
Niall recommended 4 books in Zürich october 2004:
- Basic Clinical Massage Therapy.Integrating Anatomy and Treatment. James H. Clay and David M. Pounds. (ISBN 0-683-30653-7. Sterling 29,00 pounds. An LWW Massage Therapy & Bodywork series.)
In its text, the basic techniques of structural massage therapy are brought to life by embedding superb illustrations of internal structures directly into photographs of live models. This produces a stunningly realistic text that provides an overview of individual muscles that are essential to understanding basic massage therapy teachniques.
Approximately 450 vibrant, full-colour images create a complete perspective by showing each muscle or muscle group along with surrounding structures, surface landmarks and the therapist's hands.
(Niall's insert: illustrates practically all PI-strokes)

Other stuff: Techniques d'Impact en classe (2001)
Impact Techniques in the Classroom: 88 Activities to Engage your Students (2004)
Impact-Tachniken für die Psychotherapie ((2005) (19,90 Euro) (ISBN 3-89670-444-3).
The author Danie Beaulieu provides stategies taken from various method, NLP, RET, Transaction-Analysis, Gestalt and the more recent Pro-Action Theories, which may be used effectively both for students in training as well as for clients in psychotherapie. The techniques are simple but effective and can be combined as useful tools with any method of therapy work or councelling. Niall recommends her compact publication as an indispensable handbook for inducing instant impressions, opening new perspectives and awareness, using creative audio, visual and kinetic approaches.
Jack recommended the following book in Mexico 2003:
- Sex, Time and Power, How Womens Sexuality Shaped Human Evolution (Viking) by Leonard Schlain
This is the most unusual book Ive read in many years. Written by a medical doctor, who has a keen interest in anthropology, it is filled with unusual facts and references to interesting theories. But most unusual is his development of his own theory: that in the transition from homo erectus to homo sapiens there was a mutation which saved the developing hominid from extinction. The female mensus became timed to the moons cycle which led her to realize she had power over her sexuality, a great advantage when there were grave dangers in having too many children, too frequently. But this new mensus was also dangerous and meant she needed lots of iron, so she bestowed her sexual favors on the men who where able to bring her meat. Men quickly learned to hunt with planning and resource and participated in a new sense of planning and time. For Schlain this thesis has consequence for many issues in our society: patriarchy, modern woman, death, Anima and Animus, gays and lesbians, mother and father, husband and wife, death...
I highly recommend it.
- Postural Integration, Harmonie von Koerper, Geist and Seele,
Doris and Marco Guidon
ISBN 3-431-04008-X, Verlagsgruppe Luebbe GmbH & Co. www.ehrenwirth.de
This beautiful paperback is filled with color pictures, images and charts. Doris and Marco cover Postural Integration as part of modern body therapy and body psychotherapy. In the context of the four elements they talk about fascia, breathwork, the therapeutic process and character structure. A beautiful edition! Here's the German summary: "Zivilisationsprobleme zeigen sich immer haeufiger auch koerperlich.
Marco is a PI Trainer. Doris is a PI practitioner. They have their practice and trainings in Herrliberg on Zurich Sea.
